Privacy Policy
The short version: Jikakugo stores all your learning data on your own device. We don't collect it, we can't see it, and we don't sell it. No accounts required.
Who we are

What data we collect
Learning data (your device only): Your progress, SRS review history, XP, streaks, achievements, and settings are saved in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device — we cannot access it and it is never transmitted to any server.
Analytics (if enabled): We may use a privacy-friendly analytics tool such as Plausible Analytics to understand how many people visit the site. This does not use cookies, does not track individuals, and collects no personal information.
What we do not collect:
- No name, email address, or account information (no accounts exist)
- No payment information
- No device identifiers or fingerprints
- No location data
- No cookies for tracking or advertising
How your data is stored
All learning progress is stored in your browser's localStorage under the keys jk_state, jk_lesson, jk_game, and jk_onboarded. You can delete this data at any time through your browser settings, or by using "Reset all progress" inside the app's settings panel.
Because data is stored locally, it does not sync across devices. If you clear your browser storage or switch devices, your progress will not carry over.
Third-party services
Jikakugo loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from Cloudflare's CDN. These requests may log your IP address in standard server logs, subject to their own privacy policies. We do not use advertising networks, affiliate trackers, or social media pixels.
Children's privacy
Jikakugo does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone. Because no personal data is collected, the app is safe for learners of all ages.
Your rights
Since we don't collect or store personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf. All your data lives in your own browser under your full control.
If you are located in the EU, South Africa, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws — we process no personal data as defined under those laws.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes — for example, if we introduce accounts or payment processing — we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
